This article covers how to connect Openprise to Salesforce Pardot (Account Engagement).
Locate the Business Unit Id
The first step is to locate the Business Unit Id to be used when setting up the authentication in the data source.
To find the Business Unit ID (used for the API):
In Salesforce Setup:
1. Enter “Business Unit” in the Quick Find box
2. Click “Business Unit Setup”. Your Business Unit ID will be next to “Business Unit Name”
In Salesforce, Marketing Setup:
1. Enter “Business Unit” in the Quick Find box
2. Click “Business Unit Setup”. Your Business Unit ID will be there next to “Business Unit Name”
Creating the Data Source
- When setting up a Data Source, select Salesforce Pardot as the source technology. To learn more about Data sources, click HERE
- Select Add Account Information to authenticate to Salesforce Pardot (red arrow).
- Enter the Business Unit Id.
- If you are already logged in to your instance, the authentication will occur when Next is selected. If you are not logged in, a log in screen will appear and then the authentication will occur.
Select the directory or entity
- Select the entity/object you'd like to import
Available directory/entities are (click for SFDC documentation):
- Campaign
- Lifecycle Histories
- Lifecycle Stages
- List
- List Membership
- Opportunity
- Prospect
- Prospect Account
- User
- Visit
- Visitor
- Visitor Activity
Note: Remember that the user used for authentication must have API access to the objects that Openprise can read/write to, which is managed via the user's profile.
We recommend creating a separate API user that has read/write access to the objects Openprise should have access to.
