Segmenting titles in a foreign language is difficult. The Openprise Job Level and Job Function open data sources have some foreign keywords, but not as many as English keywords.
To work around this limitation, you can build a custom mapping using a G-sheet translation function to translate titles and then assign the appropriate Job Function, Job Level and priorities.
Here is an overview of how to proceed:
- Generate a file by filtering on leads or contacts that have no job function, but do have a title. It may help to add filters for:
- Country
- Title does not contain a, b, c, d, e, f, g,....etc. This will show titles that have no Latin alphabet characters.
- Export the file
- Open the file in G-sheets
- Sort the title column
- Remove duplicates (Data>Remove Duplicates)
- In a column next to the title, add a formula as shown:
- To find the original language use “=detectlanguage(d8)” in the next column. The 2 letter language code is returned in most cases. A list of valid values is at the end of this document.
- Load the resulting file into Openprise and use the Open Data Job Function file to segment the translation column to check the results and adjust as necessary.
- Once you’re satisfied with the results, add the values in the title column with a priority of 1 and load the table with the title, the translation, and Priority.
- Update your segmentation job to first use the Open Data file, and if no Job Function is found, then use the custom table.
Note: This process will have to be repeated periodically as it relies on the full title for matching.
Job level keywords vary from country to country so keywords and job levels should be adjusted according to the local conventions.
